What Are Lip Fillers?
Lip fillers are soft tissue fillers—most commonly made of hyaluronic acid (HA)—used to improve lip volume, contour, symmetry, and hydration. HA is a naturally occurring substance in your body that holds water and adds plumpness to the skin. When injected into the lips, HA fillers can smooth fine lines around the mouth, accentuate the lip border, and correct volume loss. Because HA is gradually broken down in the body, results are temporary (several months), and treatments can be tailored to your goals.
Our Lip Filler Treatment
Duration: ~30 minutes
Price: From $710 (varies depending on amount of filler/material used and desired effect)
When you come in for lip fillers, here’s what to expect:
- A full consultation to discuss lip shape, symmetry, and your aesthetic goals.
- Numbing options: a topical anesthetic is applied before injections, and most HA fillers include lidocaine to improve comfort.
- The injection itself: small amounts placed carefully, often in multiple points, to achieve natural, balanced shape.
- Aftercare guidance: what to do after the treatment to minimize swelling/bruising, how to care for your lips, etc.
Lip Filler Options
At Modern Dose, we use a range of advanced HA fillers to suit different lip goals:
- Juvéderm Volbella is ideal if you’re looking for subtle, natural enhancement with a lighter feel. It provides soft volume and hydration and can last up to a year.
- Juvéderm Ultra or Ultra Plus is a great choice if you want more noticeable fullness. These options offer more dramatic plumping power and typically last between six and nine months.
- Restylane Silk is formulated specifically for lip augmentation and smoothing the fine lines around the mouth. It provides a soft, flexible finish that generally lasts six to nine months.
Your injector will help you choose the filler best suited to your lip shape, lifestyle, and desired result.
What to Expect Before, During & After
Before treatment: Avoid alcohol, blood-thinning supplements, and certain medications as directed by your provider to reduce the risk of bruising. If you have an event planned, allow some time for possible swelling to subside.
During treatment: A numbing cream is applied, followed by the injection of filler with lidocaine for added comfort. The treatment itself is quick, and most clients experience only mild discomfort.
Immediately after treatment: You may notice swelling, redness, or tenderness around the lips, and some bruising is possible. Ice can help reduce swelling, and we recommend avoiding vigorous exercise, excessive sun exposure, and alcohol for 24 hours.
When results appear: Results are visible right away, though swelling may temporarily affect how your lips look. The final result is usually apparent after one to two weeks, once the filler has settled.

Duration of Results & Maintenance
Lip fillers typically last between 6-12 months, depending on the product used, your body’s metabolism, and lifestyle factors. Subtle touch-ups every six to nine months can help maintain your desired look.
